Julie and Julia
We watched this movie several nights ago starring Meryl Streep as Julia Child and Amy Adams as a woman struggling with aspirations of becoming a writer.
If you haven't heard of it or viewed it, you can google it to find out details about the storyline. There are many scenes involving cooking, but the story tells more.
While taking it in, hundreds, no, thousands of women who I have met personally and through neworking sites and blogs came to mind. Not discarding the men. I'm sure there are many who fit the category. It's just that I've had more open, honest discussions with more women about issues like this. Once you see the movie, you'll understand better. I don't want to turn this into a review. Without giving away all the details, Amy's character Julie is cooking 500 some odd meals from Julia Child's co-authored cookbook and blogging about it as a self help method to inspire herself and become a published author. The scenes flip to Julia Child living in France and her experiences moving from bored housewife to the well renowned French cook we watched on television for years.
These are two very different women from very different worlds, living very different lives, with very different reasons. The common among them is what brings my networking and direct selling friends to mind. Each of the characters learned everything they possibly could about their endeavors, each challenged herself and each remained very determined, Meltdowns? Yes you'll see a few of those mixed in the scenes too. You'll also see they get a bit sidetracked at times, prioritize a little foolishly, and thoroughly enjoy the smallest of accomplishments on their way. It happens, right?
It really does happen in the building and growing process of our ""Dreams"" of being, changing or finding. Not everyone becomes world renown like Julia Child, of course. Still, there are many amazing experiences along the pike. If you are a direct seller of any type, try watching this movie and pick out one thing that has happened through your career that corresponds with an experience, feeling or notion of one of these women.
You never know, you could learn something about yourself.
Bon Apetite!

Fuzzy Resolutions
Look at this picture. It's fuzzy. I love it as it shows no flaws.
All the talk around the New Year seems to be about making resolutions/promises/commitments/goals.
I hear one person mention a resolution to diet, another to quit smoking, another to earn more money, get out of debt. What fantastic ways to improve life!
But are they fuzzy? Do they appear flawless?
Are we willing to really do what needs to be done to stick to resolutions and make them work?
What about obstacles? If you are truly comitted to your resolutions coming to fruition, be sure to leave room for these. You know they always appear when we least expect them.
My personal Resolution for 2011 is not fuzzy. It's Chrystal Clear. I see the flaws in it and the possibilities I will get sidetracked. It may not last throughout the year.
I am resoluting not to resolute. Simply to live each day as it is. Leave the stress of resolution behind and let what is meant to be come naturally.
Who do you know with fuzzy resolutions?
Warmest wishes for stress less 2011

and the Greatest of these is glue?
is Love.
Faith, Hope and Love
We practice and talk of faith in our lives through our beliefs, religions, relationships. We have full understanding and belief what we hold dearly to our hearts is true, is meant to be and will be. Reminds me of a child having a visit with Santa Clause. He/she may ask for a baseball mitt or a new dollhouse or a puppy. In their hearts, they believe these things will be delivered. In fact, they know they will! There's just no other way. It is going to be. Can you remember being child and just knowing you would see that before you? Maybe it would not happen right away, but if you kept on asking, Santa would have to break down eventually and deliver. Many of us may still be able to correlate these feelings of faith toward some dream we have or athat of someone close to us.
We Hope. Everyone hopes. Some may hope for stronger shoulders in rough times, some hope for a pay raise, some for cure of illness. The Hope list really is endless and the greatest thing about Hope is we all have our own. It's free and no one can tell us not to have it, how much of it to have or how much of it to share. We have full ownership of our hopes. When things sometimes seem difficult we turn to our hopes or we share hope with those who are facing difficult situations. Sometimes, others give us hope in a thing and idea or a need. I think of Hope as a wonderful gift to give ourselves, others or receive well when offered.
Can you remember a time when you received or gifted Hope?
Love
love, love,love,love,love
No word or feeling quite compares. Does it?
It truly is the greatest of them all.
There is no item, there is no feeling, there is simply nothing stronger then Love.
Love is a bond. Something or someone you are glued to so to speak.
A child, a parent, a spouse, and for many a career.
So why do you think Love is the greatest of these divine virtues?
Speaking for myself, if I did not love a person or a thing to some degree, I would find it hard to have faith or hope in it. The bond has to come first. In all things. Personal and business, my tendencies as a human is to want to be glued/connected above all.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas filled with Faith, Hope and lots of Glue in your stockings.

Winterizing
It looks like the Fall Holiday season is upon us. You know what I'm going to suggest to you , right?
IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE!
But First, Let us be prepared. Things move and shake so quickly this time of year before we know it the Holidays have come and gone and something/s had been missed because we didn't do it right away or pushed it off for whatever reason. My husband references to this all the time. In his business (auto repair) a huge pet peeve is "Why do people wait until they break down and then expect a miracle to fix the problem, Why not just keep up with regular maintainance?" There is a valid point there. I think so many of us could benefit so greatly by thinking and planning ahead in different areas of our lives including the health of our bodies, our relationships, and our finances. Especially this time of year. Why wait until anything breaks down when we have the opportunities to prevent extra trouble?
Have a Holly Jolly Christmas
I just love all the parties, gathererings and fun that comes with the Fall/Winter Holiday Season. My skin, however does face some challenges with the cool outdoor air mixed with heating indoors. Dehydration from the not so good party foods and drinks can do a number on me as well. This year I am going to nip it in the bud by starting right now with moisturization. I'll be using the Jordan Essentials age defying serum every morning and night, followed by our soy moisturizer on my face, neck and decollete.
The rest of me will get a weekly salt scrub exfoliation and daily Hand and body lotion and Shea butter moisturizing treatment.
Ok, so enough about me. What will you be adding or changing in your skin care regimen to "winterize" ?
While I have you thinking about this, I wanted to let you know November is a great month to host a party to help with gift giving needs by reaping hostess free and half price buying power.
It is also at a super duper advantage to start a direct sales business, as it is the absolute best season to get off to a fast start and earn additional income before Christmas. I have personally had the pleasure of a great communication system and trainingswith the founder of Jordan Essentials as well as Our company Director of Field Training and Development and other consultants. We are all in agreement that Jordan Essentials has a special blessing upon us right now. I am super excitied to be in the mix and Celebrate a New, and would love to help others do the same, even if it helps them prevent something as simple as Christmas debt, or a home or auto repair.
SOME THINGS YOU JUST CAN'T HELP THINKING ABOUT
What if I could? > You Can if that is what you want.
I invite you to Try us on.
Warmest Regards

Dead Sea Salts
They don't just smell good and soften skin. Dead Sea Salts provide many benefits to the body. They are extremely therapuetic and should be used in every home or spa.
The structure of the Dead Sea salt is quite unique; comprising magnesium,
potassium and calcium chlorides, in addition to a high concentration of
bromides. Moreover, the Dead Sea minerals are natural, pure, nonchemical, and non-pharmaceutical.
-Magnesium is important for combating stress and fluid
retention, slowing skin aging and calming the nervous system
-Calcium strengthens cell membranes, cleanses pores, prevents water retention, increases circulation and strengthens bones and nails.
-Bromides act to ease muscle stiffness and relax muscles.
-Sodium is important for the lymphatic fluid balance (this in turn is
important for immune system function
-Potassium energizes the body, helps to balance skin moisture and is a crucial mineral to replenish following
intense exercise. strengthening bones and nails
A high quality sea salt could replenish the minerals, which are critical to our skin’s metabolism. Studies have been conducted on the health benefits of bathing in Dead Sea salts, with patients experiencing marked
improvement, including relief from osteoarthritis and tendonitis with
increased mobility and reduced pain leading to a decline in their use of
analgesics.
Dead Sea salt baths also helped with psoriasis, decreasing the
effects of itching, sleep disturbances, and skin scaling. There are no associated side effects from the use of Dead sea Salts.
So we can clearly see why a good quality dead sea salt is essential in our skin care regimen. Don't be afraid. Take the Plunge!
FYI
*Dead Sea salts need to dissolve completely before turning on jets in hot tubs, Jacuzzis or whirlpools.
* Save $10 on the Large 32 oz container Between Oct. 15 and 18, 2010
Visit my JE Store online to choose your favorite spa scent or naturally unscented or call me directly with your questions. I love questions.

An Artist with Yarn
Today I wanted to share the spirit of a woman who works from home. I am especially impressed with her spirit. She uses her natural creativity and herself as a model in her hat making business. Anne Quinn is "An Artist with Yarn"
Have you ever heard people give excuses in direct sales of why they can't do something? Excuses like location, time, inability, age, etc...?
Read more about Anne. You'll be amazed how and why she got started in business.
Interview with Anne Quinn, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business? A: After retiring from Littleton Public Schools, I began volunteer work and found myself doing nails for some of the residents at Brookside Nursing Home in Castle Rock. It was there that I met Mary, an elderly lady from Littleton, who was a resident of the nursing home. If Mary felt well enough, either my friend (who also was a volunteer) or I painted her beautiful long nails red every week. Her husband, Carl, who came six days a week to spend the day with her was happy to see her renewed interested in being so beautiful. Her greatest wish was to go back home to Littleton. It was during this time in early 2008 that I dreamed Mary was going home and she was wearing a purple hat. Not having a purple hat to give her nor knowing where to buy one, I decided to make her a hat. After buying the yarn and a "how to" book, I soon discovered that never having taken a lesson, reading the instructions was beyond my capacity. So, with needle and yarn in hand, I made her a cute purple hat that actually fit. There was a hidden talent there all those years. I did take the hat to Mary and was totally surprised on entering the room that the lady in my dream had been Mary as a young lady. On her wall, was a very large picture of Mary at twenty six years of age, even the long black hair was the same as in my dream. I can't begin to explain any of this, all I know is that my ability to make hats and scarves is a talent. From that time until now, I have made and sold many, many beautiful one-of-a-kind hats and scarves, all made with love and no patterns. We are told that each of us is given a talent; maybe we just need to look for it more often. Each creation takes on its own image and all are so beautiful and different. Reading directions is still nothing I can or want to do. Every day I am thankful for being an artist with yarn. Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: My hats and scarves are unique because there is never a duplicate. Not following a pattern allows me to be creative with my stitches and yarns. You will not find these creative items anywhere else. All are created with love and are actually given a name. I feel that the products must be perfect before they are allowed to be sold.My stamp of approval is the small piece of yarn (always different from the hat yarn) that is carefully pulled through the hat near the small HatsbyAnne tag sewn to the inside. Removal of the stray yarn is optional but the yarn immediately identifies it as an original. My friend who lives in Las Vegas has referred to my line as masterpieces and I think he is right. There are about two hundred items online at hatsbyanne.com and special orders are available. Everything is 100 percent guaranteed. After two years, I have had no complaints.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: There is so much genuine pleasure in creating a beautiful hat or scarf that someone will wear and enjoy. Everyday, I'm either starting or finishing a new item. Giving each piece its name is part of the real fun. I love names like "She Wore Blue Velvet" or "Rio Carnival." Two dollars from the sale of each item is given to The Hospice of Denver. This is part of the joy of being able to make and sell hats and scarves, knowing that my contribution will make a difference in someone's life.
Q: What is your business' biggest challenge?
A: To date, after two years, the biggest challenge is getting my line out for the public to see.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: Most people who see all the many hats and scarves in either the hat room in my home or those posted on my Web site are surprised that there are so many made with no patterns, and that much of my line is made for year round wear. Hats and scarves made with ribbon and cotton yarns are perfect for warm days. Every lady needs a summer hat for "bad hair" days and a cute scarf as an accessory.

Saving Boobies
In Lieu of October being Breast cancer awareness, you will see worldwide events, sales, fundraisers focusing on awareness with a pretty pink ribbon. It is wonderful to see the awareness being spread, donations being made, women reminding their friends to get a mamogram. Awareness and early detection are a great start. Still there is more to think about.
Breast cancer is not to be taken lighly. There are many who survive with early detection, but still lives are lost to this horrible condition. There are many contributing factors that cannot be overidden, However being precautious can't hurt.
You may have read or heard of research and studies regarding the prospective danger of Parabens and links to Breast cancer. While the use of Parabens or the extent of use being harmful may still be in question, It is likely that a little knowledge may go a long way.
Here is some general information about paraben research and how they may be related to breast cancer and other health related problems.
Parabens are inexpensive chemical preservatives used in lotions, antiperspirants, cleansers and many other skin care and sundry items to lengthen shelf life and prevent bacterial growth in the product. Generally a product containing parabens will stay fresh and bacteria free for about 2 years longer then without.
Sound Good? No, it's not good and here is why.
-Parabens have the potential to alter or mimic the estrogen processes and levels in a females body. They can cause estrogen dependent tumors and can aide in the development of cancer, especially when absorbed into the skin because they enter your bloodstream.
-Parabens break down into Formaldahyde which causes cancer.
You know what formaldahyde is used for, right?
Preserving dead bodies.
-They may cause harm to your thyroid, ovaries, and the male reproductive system, and have been linked in research to abnormal fetal development in pregnant women.
-They also contribute to skin irritation, rashes and dermititus.
Concenred about the possibily of parabens contributing to the health of your loved ones or yourself?
You may want to consider reading labels, trashing the products with questionable chemical content and switching to a paraben free brand such as Jordan Essentials.

A Real Direct Sales Encounter- Not for the faint of heart
This is the first of many tried and true encounters of a direct selling woman. If you have any to share, please comment.
I'll call this one Nightmare on Vendor Street
Standing at my Booth at a vendor fair one Saturday morning I see a gentleman approaching. He was bouncing a tennis ball with his racket as he swaggered closer to my rented 10x10 territory.
I thought to myself, "This guy looks a little paunchy, fifty something, probably married, maybe he'll bring something home for his wife" Ok, I know I was wrong for prejudging. It's just one of those human nature things.
Anyway, He walked right up to me,stopped bouncing his ball, glanced vaguely over my display and asked "This is one of those direct sales things?" "How long have you been doing this?" My teethy reply, "Yes it is. I have been in direct sales for years. Have you ever heard of us or tried these products?"
This is where it gets good. Keep reading.
He then says "Na, what do you get out of it anyway?" resumes the ball bouncing and tells me about how his wife got involved in one of these things and how he doesn't understand the whole cultish recruitment thing and how he leaves her alone about it because ""She actually believes she is doing something good for people and it frees up his time when she's busy""
So now I have to think quickly to come up with an appropriate response to maintain any level of professionalism. While In my mind I am thinking "You Pompous Ars. Get your negative self away from my space!" Well, I did manage to hold back my true feelings, which anyone who knows me will tell you that is rare for verbal myrtle over here. I did however respond by saying "It sounds like your wife and I would get along well as we share similar views and similar businesses"
Needless to say, no purchase was made or business information exchanged.
On his merry way he went most likely to shoot down the next direct sales person in line. No idea what this guy's purpose was that day nor do I know his wife. I just hope his poor attitude did not get in the way of her path to do something meaningful.
